THE STORY OF BRØDRENES ORIGINAL - Aarhus' Best Grill Food
Welcome to Brødrenes Original, started by Magnus and Theis Thesbjerg Jensen - two young, happy brothers from West Jutland.
Our journey began during the second major COVID-19 lockdown when we felt the need for a quality-focused reinterpretation of Danish grill food. Therefore, we decided to take matters into our own hands. After months of hard work, long evenings, and purchasing a food truck, we were able to roll out in June 2021 and present our renewed and improved version of classic Danish grill dishes.
Since then, a lot has happened. Already during the summer of 2021, we experienced such high demand that we had to hire our first employees. In the winter of 2021, we bought another food truck and secured our first permanent location. Now we had two trucks and had to hire even more talented young people. In the spring of 2022, another opportunity arose, and we took over our first physical premises in Aarhus C, specifically at Borggade 12b, 8000.
The premises were renovated over three months, during which we did most of the work ourselves. The same skilled painter who previously decorated our trucks also decorated our business. In June 2022, we opened the doors to our new gastrogrill in Aarhus.
Unfortunately, 2022 was also an incredibly tough year for the restaurant industry, and we fought bravely to keep everything running amidst challenges with raw materials and an energy crisis. We apparently already have a tradition of opening up in times of crisis. But honestly, if you can manage in adversity, things will hopefully go well in prosperity. It all just comes down to the right attitude.
After opening our gastrogrill on Borggade, we decided to close our permanent location at Aarhus Ø. We focused fully on our new premises, and fortunately, it has paid off. During the summer of 2022, we were nominated by Aarhus Stiftstidende as the city's best take-away, which was a great recognition in difficult times. We entered a winter with great support from local residents in our neighborhood. We would also like to thank our loyal regular customers who have followed us around the city since we started in the food truck.
Today, our gastrogrill at Borggade 12b, 8000 is open every day from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM. In addition to our gastrogrill, we still have our two food trucks. One primarily travels to events, corporate parties, confirmations, festivals, and much more. Demand is high, and we are already booked several years into the future. The other food truck is used for the biggest events, where we can serve up to 2,000 servings a day. In the summer, it also functions as a pop-up burger bar at Jessie's by the Beach in Ebeltoft.
Today, we have more than 30 employees and serve food to thousands of happy people every year. It is fantastic to look back on how quickly it has all happened. We would like to thank Aarhus for the support we have received along the way.
In the early summer months of 2023, we received some fantastic news. Aarhus Stiftstidende has once again nominated us, but this year in the category of the city's best burger 2023.

A REINTERPRETATION OF DANISH GRILL FOOD
Everyone is familiar with meatball sandwiches, beef sandwiches, and pork roast sandwiches. But at Brødrenes, we have chosen to give them our own unique twist. We have taken the best elements from each of these iconic classics and created our very own special version. Our meatballs are made according to our grandmother's recipe. The pork roast is perfectly cooked with crispy crackling and juicy meat. And if you are a vegetarian, you don't have to miss out on our delicious grill food, as we also offer vegetarian alternatives. There is something for everyone at our place.
At Brødrenes, we add our own crispy homemade pickles and delicious homemade grill mayo. And of course, all this is served with our coarse signature fries on the side. Everything we make is done in collaboration with local suppliers, and we focus on and respect good Danish raw materials. We use only free-range Danish meat in our sandwiches, so you can enjoy our dishes with a clear conscience.
